About the Author

Jesus Follower

For over 20 years, I have lived as a follower of Jesus in an environment that is predominantly influenced by the Islamic religion. That is why I have studied the Koran on my own and have had many personal conversations with adherents of many variants of Islam as practiced today. At first, my interest was generally directed towards the differences between Islam and Christianity. Over time, my focus has become more and more clearly concentrated on the portrayal of Jesus in the Koran and the Gospel.

If the experts are to be believed, there are few superficial similarities between the Christian and Muslim understandings of Jesus. Frustrated with this state of affairs and motivated by the hope of finding more agreement in the Quranic portrayal of Jesus with the biblical portrait, I began to study the relevant material in the Quran and its interpretation through the centuries. In particular, reading Sayyid Qutb's Qur'an Interpretation, In the Shadow of the Qur'an , opened my eyes to a way out of what I consider to be a highly unsatisfactory situation.
I came to the conclusion that there is significantly more agreement between the Koranic and Biblical images of Jesus than the experts of both religions admit. In my opinion, many of the facets of the two depictions of Jesus that they perceive as contradictory can be resolved through in-depth exegetical research. In this blog, I will present and explain some of the new insights I have gained through this process. These will cover the topics of Jesus' resurrection, his call from the earth, his similarity to the prophet Adam, his second stay on earth and his role during the Last Judgement. Finally, the question will arise as to what effects these insights can have on the faith and actions of people who are totally devoted to God.

I warmly welcome you as a reader to this blog and invite you to study the ideas presented in the blog as impartially as possible. Please refrain from hastily condemning what is presented based on your preferred tradition. I am also very interested in hearing your well-founded opinion and receiving logically justified criticisms of the ideas I have presented in the blog. May the blog be an opportunity for a joint, intensive study of the person and message of Jesus in the Qur'an, and help to ensure that God's intentions with this prophet can also be fully fulfilled in the 21st century.
